Frequency of massage
Get a massage once in a while for a treat; get a massage regularly for health and well-being.
Great athletes do not get ready for the Olympics by practicing just on the weekends. One cannot have a great set of teeth by brushing just once a week or by visiting the dentist now and then.
Massage is a routine for the health and wellness conscientious. Results are accumulative and become evident after each session.
A session is usually one hour but some prefer to get half-hour massages or even as long as two-hour massages. Frequency, rather than the length of each session, is the key in getting the best results and benefits of a massage. Please discuss with your massage therapist your needs and goals for getting a massage.

What is massage like?
Come at least 15 minutes early for your first appointment. This will give you ample time to fill out a Guest Intake form. It has general and medical questions about your overall health condition. You and your massage therapist will then be able to discuss the best pressure and techniques to be used during your session.
Before…our spa assistant will give you hot towels and spa slippers and if you are getting multiple services, you will be provided a robe to change into and a locker to lock your personal belongings. Visit the lavatory before starting your session.
In your massage room, you will have a few minutes alone so you can disrobe in privacy. Some forms of massages, like Acupressure and Shiatsu, do not require disrobing. In general, however, disrobing completely is the best way to receive a massage but some people prefer to leave their underwear. You will then get on your massage table; drape yourself with the sheet provided and have time to relax before your massage therapist will quietly enter your room.
During…for the most relaxing and luxurious experience, your table will always be covered with clean linens and a blanket will always be available to keep you warm; the room will be slightly dimmed and you will be treated with soft music with rhythms and sounds that will send your mind and soul floating to a tropical island, a warm beach or other paradise.
Oils, Butters and Lotions (unscented or blended with aromatic pure essential oils) to hydrate the skin or powder (corn starch) may be used to prevent excessive friction. Tessie’s Serenity SPA uses only the purest and highest quality for all of our services. Though more expensive than many carrier oils, we proudly use 100% pure HobaCare jojoba (read more about this) due to its excellent healing and safety properties.
Our therapists are very professional and highly experienced in proper draping and only the area being massaged will be exposed. Genitals will never be exposed and for women, breasts will also be draped.
After… your massage therapist will assist either give a few moments to relax after wiping your feet with warmed towels or may assist you in sitting up and will then leave the room so you can change back into your own clothes or into your robe if you are getting another service. Since you will be totally relaxed, take a good two or three minutes before carefully getting off the table. In a short time, you will notice a dramatic increase in your energy level. With regular visits and improved lifestyle, you will gain a sense of balance, harmony and well-being.
You will then have a choice of either water, cold or iced tea. Depending on your spa package, you will also be served snacks or a light lunch/dinner.

Before leaving, schedule your next visit. Many of our guests secure their favorite time and day by scheduling or even prepaying for several appointments. Please ask one of our Guest Relations Staff about our Loyalty Program.
How to receive a massage
Relax completely. It is best not to help with any of the movements. Some people like to sleep. Though some like to talk during their massage, it might be better if you take this time to allow your mind and body to enjoy the quiet. Take deep breaths to help release tension.
People have different pressure tolerance. Let your therapist know anytime you prefer a deeper or lighter touch. Alert your therapist too as so you feel too cold or too warm or anytime you feel any discomfort.
Which massage is best?
Some of our guests are very sophisticated and specific with the massage technique they prefer. Tessie’s Serenity SPA’s massage therapists are trained in numerous modalities that can address your specific condition. For many, the choices can be overwhelming so we customize and incorporate various techniques by reviewing your completed Guest Intake form and asking you to specify areas that you need the most work, reason for your visit and your pressure and style preference: Relaxing, and Deep & Therapeutic Massages. In addition, we also have signature and luxurious massages that you may try once in a while or decide to give as a gift or to receive on a regular basis.
